Last Saturday, I was invited on a media event at Kinder Zoo Adventure Jungle inside Manila Zoo. I brought Little Kweky with me to be my partner in crime in taking pictures and to roam around the zoo which he really enjoyed since he’s an animal person. So let me give you brief information about Kinder Zoo.
Kinder Zoo Adventure Jungle is an interactive zoological facility. Most of the exotic animals on site can be fed and held. It is a rewarding experience where visitors go home with the greater appreciation for endangered animals.
The media event is about knowing the two very illustrious animals in the zoo. It’s Mr. T, the Sulcata Tortoise and Hyacinth Macaw. The event was hosted by 2 DJ’s from DZME and Mr. Pocholo Gonzales. They are the greatest speaker I ever heard since my collage days. Never been to events like this for so long so I really don’t know what to expect. They are really humorous and they caught my son’s attention when the event started, that’s why I really love them. Also, Mr. Pocholo Gonzales let us experience his wonderful talent of dubbing (I don’t know if my term is right. Please let me know if it’s wrong *wink.). He’s known to voice over Kiko Matsing and Pong Pagong of batibot.
Let’s get to know them better. So here’s more information about the Mr. T and the Macaws.
Mr. T is a 50 year old Sulcata Tortoise and he is a land dwelling turtle. The sulcata will live over 100 years old and its shell will grow over 1 meter in length and weight over 40 kilos. These tortoises eat grass, plants and cactus. Unlike other turtles, these tortoises are not shy and actually look forward to being with humans. You can feed a sulcata in Kinder Zoo but watch out for his beaks he can break a carrot into two without any hassle so he can also break your little fingers. You have nothing to worry Mr.T would not bite you on any purpose.
We’ve got to meet Mr. T’s 3 month old baby and it’s really adorable.
Now, I want you to meet another fella in the zoo. The Hyacinth Macaw.
Hyacinth Macaw or Hyacinthine Macaw is the largest Macaw and the largest flying parrot in the world. It is a parrot native to Brazil. These parrots are considered endangered numbering approximately 4000 in the wild. The Hyacinth Macaw are know the clowns of the parrot family due to its yellow skin that looks like they are constantly smiling and their natural disposition of being inquisitive and playful. Just be careful of their beak. They are so powerful with a crushing strength of 3000 lbs. per inch. Your fingers will be a matchstick to them.
Do you know that?
There are 7 macaws in the big aviary for the past 5 years to make them grow and mature. Sometime this year, Kinder Zoo will no longer display the macaws that have paired up and will set them up for breeding it; it’s a new breeding facility.
Kinder Zoo’s advocacy is to “Breed these endangered species”.
So after meeting them we went photo ops with the animals but we already took pictures before the event started since we’re early birds (early bird catches the early worm *giggles).
We both had the best time that day and we will never forget how we were treated by the organizers. I’ve got to meet mommy bloggers and media men. I cannot contain my happiness when I saw the tears (coz’ he’s really scared of the snake and the crocodile) and that big smile from Kweky. Thanks to Mommy Lariza Garcia, for giving me this opportunity to meet new people and augment my blogging skills. Thanks also to Ms. Grace Bondad Nicholas and the Kinder Zoo people for treating us (bloggers, media men, me and Kweky) super special and in pampering us with good food and good speakers. Two thumbs up to Kinder Zoo for providing kids the best experience they can get to fuse with the animals. We will surely comeback soon.
You will definitely love Kinder Zoo it’s in City of Manila only and you can mingle with the animals. This is not your ordinary zoo. Your kids will surely love to touch and play with the animals.
Kinder Zoo accommodates group and educational tours. There is also a facility for birthday parties and special events. If you want to go to Kinder Zoo its located inside the Manila Zoo compound, M. Adriatico Street, Cor. Pres. Quirino Ave. City of Manila. Visitors will have to enter Manila Zoo to be able to purchase an entrance ticket to Kinder Zoo Adventure Jungle for just P100 only.
