I’ve been a fan of UAAP Women’s Volleyball ever since I entered college, I remember I used to see Manila Santos in the campus and greeting her for a great job for La Salle’s winning game and that didn’t stop there even after I graduated, I used to watch it live or on the TV to support my alma matter, but I always see Adamson University as a great team also.
I am so thrilled to hear yesterday that Adamson University will be having an all female coaching staff and they also presented their newest coach Airess Padda. Adamson has tapped an American Coach who is very successful in being an athlete and a coach, she is also the founder and director of Malibu Palms Volleyball Club. She began her coaching career at Hacienda Volleyball Club in 2008 before being appointed as the head coach of junior varsity team of Sierra Canyon, which successfully won the championship in 2013.
Adamson’s all women coaching staff is composed of Cherry Macatangay a former multi-titled volleyball player, she is also a former Adamson Lady Falcon and a 3 time best scorer and most valuable player titlist for Shakey’s V-League. She was also a member of the national team where she took home a silver medal at the 1995 SEA Games.
Another assistant coach to help Airess Padda is Michelle Gumabao, who led the Lady Spikers to a three-peat in the UAAP, proving that is one of the best defensive players in her league. She bagged two best blocker tropies and Finals MVP in UAAP 75.
And last, but not the least is a former Golden Tigress, Angeli Tabaquero who is the captain of the Philippine National Team in the 2013 Asian Championship and she is currently the head coach of Saint Pedro Poveda College.
I am so excited for UAAP Women’s Volleyball and I’ll be waiting how will Adamson will improve their game!
