Chef Lau’s Pugon Roaster is one of the many restaurants that Chef Lau is running among the other restaurants under Chef Laudico Group are Bistro Filipino and Guevarra’s in P. Guevarra Street in San Juan. They also have the very popular pastry shop by Chef Jac Laudico the Pattesserie Filipino. Chef Lau’s Pugon Roaster has its partner the Quezon Poultry and Livestock Corporation, it is one of the biggest poultry and livestock companies in the country. It is also one of the most integrated as it produces across the poultry and livestock chain – from eggs to chicken in the markets and restaurants.
The concept behind Chef Lau’s Pugon Roaster is to provide people with a fast casual dining place with a value for money. It is like you are eating in a fast food restaurant, but the food quality is like you are eating in a high class restaurant but very affordable.
Their signature dishes are cooked in “pugons” or brick oven. They cooked chicken, fish, pork, and US Angus beef that are marinated to a Filipino flavor and mixed with some international spice. Meat products are pre-roasted before serving, and kept warm in hot cabinets ready for service. They also created a new food called “Kaldereta Mac” this is like a bake macaroni but with a twist. They also serve the following “ Fried Chicken Adobo”, “Sinampalukang Chicken Sopas”. They also serve breakfast like “Angus Tapsilog” and “Hashilogs”. They also have “Eggsaymada” it is a version of Egg Benedict using freshly baked ensaymada. To top off their menu they also serve Chef Jacqueline’s pastries, cakes and special desserts. They feature the “ Carabao’s Milk Ice Cream Sundae”, “Chocnut” and the very popular “Halo-Halo Sundae”. Oh, by the way they serve the food from scratch and they do not use MSG or other artificial flavorings. Their main goal is to serve food as “Fast Good”.
Yesterday is the opening of their newest branch at SM San Lazaro, they invited Media friends and Bloggers and more of their family members and friends. The opening begins with a the blessing of the store and the people who work for Chef Lau’s Pugon Roaster then after that the owners showered us with coins and that should be going in (I think this is a Chinese tradition for abundance in money, and if you got a coin from it you should never use it to buy but rather keep it and use it to open a business). After the blessing they showered us with good food and good conversation with Chef Lau and Chef Jacq. It was a day filled with joy and blessings for the owners and I am thrilled to be part of the grand opening of the new home of Chef Lau’s Pugon Roasters. See you soon for more branches to open!
