In celebration of its 16th anniversary, one of the country’s top agribusiness tycoons, Calata Corporation had just concluded the grandest “Lechon Party” to date. The said event achieved a Guinness World Record as it breaks the record for the largest serving of roast pork or as we all know as lechon. Aside from the record breaking event, it also served as the company’s way of sharing or giving back its blessings to the less privileged residents of Metro Manila, as they were treated in a night of music and of course an overflowing feast of delicious and juicy lechon. The event was held at Liwasang Aurora, Quezon City Memorial Circle.
The previous Guinness World Record holder was Mexico, where they served a total of 3,094.20 kilos of cochinita pibil, a popular roast pork dish in the Yucatan region. But, Calata Corporation broke the previous record as it served a total of 4,046 kilos of our well-loved version of roast pork – the lechon.
“This year, we celebrated our 16 successful years in the business by giving back to community instead of having a lavish party. This is a very momentous occasion for the Philippines, to break the Guinness World Record for the “Largest serving of lechon”, shared Joseph Calata, Chairman and CEO of Calata Corporation.
Calata Corporation is the largest retailer and distributor of top agrochemical products such as feeds, fertilizers, veterinary medicines and seed throughout the country. Aside from these products, they also own and run a chain of retail stores named AGRI. AGRI is the largest retailer of the country’s choice brands such as AGRI Crop Protection, Heisenberg veterinary medicines, Thomson and Hine, as well as Ivansmith agrochemicals.
Calata Corporation’s “Lechon Party” shows the company giving importance to achievement, success, gratitude and kinship. Truly, the event was more than a success, it was an event which aims to share its blessing to less privileged and a day of gathering with family and friends.
